Factors affecting stillbirth and effects of stillbirth on subsequent lactation performance in a Holstein dairy herd in Isfahan
author
Abstract:
The purposes of this study were to estimate the effects of risk factors on stillbirth parturition and evaluatethe effects of stillbirth on lactation performance in Holstein dairy cows. Data were obtained from a dairycattle herd located in Isfahan province, Iran. The logit of the probability of stillbirth was modeled usinglogistic regression and the effect of stillbirth on lactation performance was analyzed through mixed linearmodel using 12283 lactation records on 5201 cows. The results showed that 6% of the calves born die within48 h of birth. The results of logistic regression analysis demonstrated that the frequency of stillbirth issignificantly influenced (P

The aim of this study was to determine the factors affecting stillbirth and the consequences of stillbirth on longevity, production, and reproductive performance in Holstein cows of Iran. Calving records from March 2000 to April 2009 comprising of 220,043 calvings on 102,199 cows in 33 herds were used. The results showed that 4.06% of the newborn calves died within 48 h of birth. The stillbirth...

stillbirth is defined as a calf death just prior to, during, or within 24 to 48 h of parturition. the exact cause of calf death in dairy cows in this period of time is unknown. the objective of this study was to investigate about the effective factors on stillbirth and also to estimate some of the genetic parameters in iranian dairy holsteins. data in the first and second lactation that have be...
full textEstimation of Economic Values for Fertility, Stillbirth and Milk Production Traits in Iranian Holstein Dairy Cows
The objective of present study was to derive the economic values for number of inseminations to conception, calving interval, milk yield and stillbirth, using economic data of 10 Iranian Holstein herds. The economic values were derived by using the profit function methods and differentiating a profit equation with respect to the traits of interest. The cow fertility costs herd amortization or r...

ABSTARCT The objective of this study was to analyze the effects of factors affecting reproductive traits in the Holstein population of the Isfahan dairy farms for subsequent compilation of the model for genetic evaluation as well as for herd management practice. A data set containing 99012 records were analyzed by a linear model with fixed effects of year , herd ,season, parity of dam, calving ...
